When to request an assessment
This adult-care page is for people with a cataract diagnosis or a recommendation to see an ophthalmologist. Ask whether the change in vision affects daily activities and whether observation or surgery is appropriate. Sudden visual loss needs urgent local assessment, not travel planning.
What surgery involves
The cloudy natural lens is replaced with an artificial lens. An eye examination and measurements come first. Surgery is commonly performed with local anaesthesia and same-day discharge; your provider confirms the plan.
Questions about the lens
Ask the surgeon which lens is suitable, its exact model, the intended focusing distance and whether glasses may still be needed. Request the reasons for the recommendation and the alternatives. A higher price alone does not establish suitability.
Before booking your trip
Ask which reports to bring, whether prior eye procedures affect planning, and how to provide your medication list. Follow the treating team’s preparation instructions; do not stop prescribed medicines on your own. Confirm the clinician, facility, appointment and written estimate before committing to travel.
One eye, two eyes and length of stay
Request a separate plan for each eye, the interval between procedures, early checks and the earliest medically appropriate return date. We do not promise treatment of both eyes or completion within a seven-day coordination package. Confirm flight timing with your surgeon.
An itemised price request
Ask for separate figures for consultation, measurements, surgeon and facility fees, the lens, anaesthesia, medicines and follow-up. Clarify whether the quote covers one eye or two, its currency and validity, cancellation terms and who pays for extra treatment. Clinical fees are quoted by the provider; Rihla coordination, accommodation and transport are separate.
Recovery and risks
Follow written instructions on drops, eye protection and activity. Glasses may still be required. Discuss infection, retinal problems and further treatment with your surgeon; no outcome is guaranteed. Arrange follow-up before returning home.
When to seek urgent help
Worsening pain or redness, worsening vision, discharge, new flashes, floaters or a shadow require urgent medical advice. Use the treating team’s emergency route or local emergency eye care; do not wait for a WhatsApp reply.
Coordination and accompaniment
We check whether an ophthalmology assessment in Tehran can be arranged before confirming a service. Arabic-language assistance and English support can be discussed; a female companion can be requested without an additional gender-selection fee within the agreed scope. Companions do not replace clinical staff or overnight nursing.
Start your enquiry
Tell us your home city, the service requested, approximate dates and whether one or both eyes are involved. Start without sending sensitive medical documents. Read fees and exclusions, visitor support and dated exchange rates. Prepare your cataract-care WhatsApp enquiry.
